BLEACH Mirrors High tier list
Aizen, Ichigo and Toshiro lead both source lists. Rukia and Rangiku show why team contribution can change a ranking. Here is the source-by-source comparison.
External launch rankings kept separate; official kit descriptions provide context. No hands-on testing is claimed.

Launch ratings: where the sources agree
The table is a selected comparison of five launch characters. Game8 evaluates the highest-rarity characters without limit breaks; Gamerch has separate comparison groups, and the column here uses its unbroken ★4 group. A ★3 gift or a fully upgraded unit is outside this comparison.
| Exact character version · ★4 comparison | Game8 | Gamerch | Published kit focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| [Substitute Soul Reaper] Ichigo Kurosaki | SS | SS | Arts 1 hits build his own attack pressure. |
| [Squad 10 Captain] Toshiro Hitsugaya | SS | SS | Critical hits interact with his attack and Frostbite effects. |
| [Standing at the Top] Sosuke Aizen | SS | SS | Entry attack boost, with a teammate switch-cooldown penalty. |
| [Squad 13 Lieutenant] Rukia Kuchiki | S | SS | Status control plus team critical support against afflicted enemies. |
| [Squad 10 Lieutenant] Rangiku Matsumoto | S | SS | Team critical-hit-rate support when she returns to standby. |
Why Rukia and Rangiku divide the lists
Game8 puts the two supporters below its SS attackers, while Gamerch includes both in SS for its unbroken ★4 comparison. This is an evaluation difference, not a balance change announced by the developer.
Their official introductions help explain the disagreement. Rukia rewards attacks against status-afflicted enemies; Rangiku contributes critical-hit support through a standby trigger. Their value depends on the other two slots and whether you can activate those effects.
What each shortlisted character asks you to build around
The five entries below explain the kit questions behind the comparison. They do not add a new tier or extend a source grade to another rarity. Their roles are inferred from the linked official previews; check the same version in the live client before committing resources.
- Ichigo [Substitute Soul Reaper]: his published Arts 1 hit trigger creates a direct damage plan you can observe. If you prefer an attacker whose progress you can track through successful card connections, start by reading that condition and his separate Attack Skill. Ask whether your other slots make those attacks easier to land or add a benefit the team is missing. The portrait alone does not tell you whether your ★3 gift has the same investment or effects as the ★4 ranked unit.
- Toshiro [Squad 10 Captain]: his innate connects critical damage with Attack and Frostbite, making team critical support a relevant question. His detailed Mortal Blow description separately lists a chance to Freeze; do not combine the two status effects into a guaranteed outcome. When comparing him with Ichigo, consider which trigger your available teammates can support. A favorable source grade does not remove the need to build around the condition.
- Aizen [Standing at the Top]: the field-entry Attack increase and separate Attack Skill point toward personal damage, while the remaining switch-cooldown increase affects the team around him. Read both sides together. A lineup that needs an immediate return to a support may value that drawback differently from one comfortable keeping its attacker active. His limited-banner status also changes how you can obtain him: a high position here does not make him a possible free-retry result.
- Rukia [Squad 13 Lieutenant]: Bind and Freeze in her preview provide control tools, while her innate needs her to attack an enemy already affected by a status ailment. That is a concrete reason a team-focused ranking may value her differently from a personal-damage shortlist. Before selecting her, identify the teammate that benefits from the critical support and read the target encounter’s restrictions. The ability to apply a status in one fight does not establish that it works against every boss.
- Rangiku [Squad 10 Lieutenant]: her team critical support can matter after she leaves the field, so judging only her active damage misses the job described in the preview. Look for the standby trigger and her team-oriented Skill, then decide who uses that support. Her Mortal Blow’s debuff removal is self-only in the published description. This is a good example of why a source grade needs a team explanation rather than a vague “support is strong” label.
Choose for the team you can actually build
- Need a straightforward attack focus? Compare Ichigo’s Arts 1 trigger with Toshiro’s critical-hit conditions.
- Already have a damage dealer? Read Rukia and Rangiku as potential team enablers instead of dismissing them for a lower source grade.
- Considering Aizen? Factor in the switch-cooldown penalty. A powerful entry effect can still conflict with a rotation-heavy plan.
- Compare equal rarity and investment. These external grades do not tell you whether your upgraded ★3 beats your unbuilt ★4.

The publisher links this character video in its global launch announcement. Pair the presentation with Aizen’s written kit: his entry attack boost also increases teammates’ remaining switch cooldown. The video is promotional material, not a measured damage comparison.

Start with the decision you are making. A reroll choice, a story roadblock and a future limited-banner decision do not share the same available pool, costs or evidence. The following table is an editorial way to apply the published comparison; it is not another ranking.
| Your decision | Use the comparison for | Check before acting |
|---|---|---|
| Choosing the tutorial keeper | A short list of standard-pool characters whose roles interest you. | The free-retry pool and the full ★4 identity; Aizen is a separate pickup. |
| Improving an existing story team | Finding a missing job, such as damage, status control or team support. | Whether levels, card decisions or an inactive condition explain the problem first. |
| Considering a limited summon | Understanding the published kit and its trade-offs. | The live banner rules, your available resources and the team you can actually complete. |
| Building for Arena or a particular boss | A starting question about a character, rather than a mode-specific verdict. | Mode rules, enemy resistance and comparable results for that exact encounter. |
Rarity and limit breaks change what you are comparing
A community question about repeated character names highlights an easy mistake: the name can match while the playable unit differs. Game8 reports different base stats and additional passive capacity between ★3 and ★4, even though both have Mortal Blows. Keep the star rating visible beside the version title when you compare a gift, a retry result and a ranking entry.
Investment is a second axis. Game8’s limit-break guide describes stronger Innate Abilities and potentially added effects as development progresses. Our selected table uses the sources’ unbroken ★4 groups. Reading an upgraded ability’s final value while comparing an unbroken character can give you a benefit the account does not yet have.
For a practical upgrade decision, compare what you own at its current state with what the replacement would have after the resources you can afford. Note the level, grade, limit breaks and exact relevant effect on both sides. If the new unit consumes materials needed by the rest of your first team, include that cost in the decision instead of treating an SS label as a free upgrade.
Read the scope before using a rating
Use the comparison for launch character selection. Neither column here is a claim about a specific PvP rank, a particular boss, clear-time testing or duplicate investment. We will revise the page when the sources or verified game details change; the date is an actual review date.
Free retry choices are a separate question
The free tutorial retry is reported to exclude the limited Aizen pickup. Game8’s retry guide favors Ichigo or Toshiro; Gamerch’s favors Rukia. Those are starting-account recommendations with different priorities. The reroll guide explains the choice without asking you to delete a save.
Does a lower source grade mean you should abandon a favorite?
No. The comparison records the named sources’ launch priorities; it is not a requirement that every account use the same trio. If your favorite already fills a clear job, helps complete the content you are playing and leaves the other slots useful, you have a reason to keep building that plan. Check a real weakness before replacing a character that is doing the work you need.
A replacement becomes more compelling when you can explain the improvement: a team effect your attacker can use, a defensive tool for an observed problem, or a clearer condition you can activate consistently. “The other name is one row higher” does not tell you what changes in your battle. Read the character catalogue and team examples alongside the table to make that comparison specific.
